Gas bumming you out? Electric Vehicle Assn Meeting Saturday June 7th
Did you know that LG hosts the San Francisco Electric Vehicle Association meetings the first Saturday of every month? And did you know that yet another one of these inspiring meetings is this Saturday, June 7th?
If you are interested in burning less gas or no gas at all, consider attending this meeting! Since we started, attendance has risen to over 40 people per event. Meet others who know and care about electric vehicles. Touch and test drive electric vehicles on the road now, from Chevrolet’s S10 stock electric pickup (with an EV1 motor!) to our own plug-in hybrid Prius. We also have a Geo Metro converted to electric in the shop. Toyota’s RAV4 EV, electric bikes and scooters, the super-fast Tango—all of these phenomenal vehicles so often hidden from public view—are yours to explore. More important are the people behind them. We are in the midst of a profound and timely revolution in transportation. JOIN US!

ART IN THE SHOP: Sarah Lyon “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”
Sarah Lyon is from Louisville, KY, some 2000 miles from our walls and the fair city in which they stand. Her photography, also of Louisville, is however suited so well for these walls that I have never seen so many visitors to the shop, whether for service or conversation, so totally absorbed by them. The large format images are both restful and striking, and altogether beautiful. Please join us for the enthusiastic opening:
Saturday, May 24th, 3-8pm at Luscious Garage

Small Green Business of the Year
Last issue of the San Francisco Bay Guardian included endorsements of a half dozen small businesses worthy of note. What an honor to be part of that list, let alone the “green” one. There are so many stellar small green businesses in SF, even among those recognized for this year’s awards.
My gratitude to the SFBG for their recognition. But as I mentioned in my acceptance speech, we do not view ourselves as “green” but simply “less brown,” and the environment isn’t helped by awards. Perhaps it is this attitude, coupled with bona fide efforts, that brought us this nod.

LG at Maker Faire
Thanks as always to Calcars for their expertise and advocacy regarding plug-in hybrid efforts. We had a great time converting a virgin Prius and upgrading a previous Maker project from 2006. Kudos to Felix, Ron, Robb, and Darren for their presentations. The audience was enraptured! Plug-In Supply made it possible; my absolute best to Robb, Chuck, and Paz for their support, product, and labor to make this year’s Maker Faire a successful event.
