LG on Jim Lerher’s Newshour

As Oil Prices Rise, Car Companies Go Electric

We grace the screen 5:04 through 5:48

My utmost gratitude to Felix Kramer of Calcars for leading the film crew to our shop and letting us host the interview.

Plug-in hybrids are featured only briefly and the general emphasis of the feature remains that electric vehicles are in the future.  This is entirely untrue.

You, reader, can drive on electricity with a fully electric vehicle, like those produced at the beginning of the ZEV mandate such as the Toyota RAV4 EV, or a compromise like the plug-in Prius, which we produce on a regular basis now.  All it takes is the enthusiasm and curiosity to search beyond the mainstream showroom.

For more information from Felix Kramer about plug-in hybrids, reference Calcars’ website

For more information on plugging in by any means necessary, come to one of our SF Electric Vehicle Association meetings, the first Saturday of every month

For more information on liberating your Prius’ battery from the gas tank, come to my talk this Friday, the fourth of July, at the Marin County Fair

Small Green Business of the Year

Last issue of the San Francisco Bay Guardian included endorsements of a half dozen small businesses worthy of note.  What an honor to be part of that list, let alone the “green” one.  There are so many stellar small green businesses in SF, even among those recognized for this year’s awards.

My gratitude to the SFBG for their recognition.  But as I mentioned in my acceptance speech, we do not view ourselves as “green” but simply “less brown,” and the environment isn’t helped by awards. Perhaps it is this attitude, coupled with bona fide efforts, that brought us this nod.

From the article:

“The actual act of driving isn’t the only reason having a car is hard on the environment. Maintaining it is too. But Luscious Garage is trying to help on both accounts. This woman-owned and operated facility specializes in hybrids, and runs the whole business as sustainably as possible, from the machine shop to the office. And for these luscious ladies, sustainably goes beyond chemicals and objects — they also sustain their community by hosting classes and a hybrid car club in their beautiful facility.”

LG in AUTOWEEK magazine

imageThis week’s AutoWeek features Luscious Garage on pages 52-53, in the “REVS > Living the Automotive Lifestyle” section, between another two page spread on the Audi R8 turbodiesel (cover story) and a 2008 Mother’s Day Gift Guide “for motoring mom’s” including a Jaguar necklace and Kaenon Eden sunglasses.

Kudos to AutoWeek for having a green issue in honor of Earth Day.  Environmentally-conscious ideals will permeate future issues, no doubt, but let’s hope it’s sooner and more often, rather than later and token.

LG Featured in Inc. Magazine

Thanks, Toyota.  We’ll Take It From Here, via Inc.com

“While others focus on technology, Carolyn Coquillette of Luscious Garage in San Francisco is thinking about the customer experience. Her garage is an oasis for Prius owners, her website is attractive and user friendly, and her technicians are happy to install whichever plug-in technology you prefer. Prices range from $8,500 to $13,000, and the company already has a waiting list. No. of conversions to date: 10”
